Dr Stuart Prior, ACIfA
Reader in Archaeological Practice
Stuart is an expert in Medieval archaeology and castle studies, as well as death, burial and the funerary industry. His teaching focuses on archaeological practice and landscape archaeology. He also has research interests in ancient technology, warfare and experimental archaeology, and a professional interest in Archaeological Health and Safety and Professional Practice.

Reader in Mediterranean Archaeology
Tamar is a world-leading expert in the archaeology of the Mediterranean’s Iron Age (c.1100-c.600 BCE), and her research spans the traditional disciplines of Near Eastern Archaeology and Classical Archaeology. In Bristol, she teaches various units on Mediterranean archaeology, and material culture analysis, and she is responsible for our Social Theories unit. With over twenty-five years of fieldwork experience in the eastern Mediterranean, she is our in-house expert on post-excavation assessment and ceramic analysis, and she oversees the post-excavation lab for our mandatory undergraduate fieldwork programme.

Dr Lucy Cramp
Senior Lecturer in Archaeological Science
Lucy is a biomolecular archaeologist, with research expertise centering on the investigation of ancient patterns of human subsistence and culinary choices. This extends from the diet of the earliest farmers on the British Isles, to the use of Roman-style culinary vessels in Britain, through to identifying components of balms used in mummification in ancient Egypt. As our archaeological science expert, she teaches analytical methods in archaeology, especially with regard to ancient diet. She also teaches about the archaeology of Britain. Along with Tamar, she runs the post-excavation lab for our mandatory undergraduate fieldwork programme.

Dr Konstantinos Trimmis, ACIfA
Archaeology Technician and Associate Teacher
Kostas is responsible for the maintenance and management of the department’s survey and geophysics equipment and the management of the Archaeological Practice Laboratory. He provides geophysics, photogrammetry and survey teaching, training on equipment use, and he manages the Department’s Archaeological fieldwork activities. He also contributes to the teaching of the Archaeology of Britain and the Post-excavation Analysis. He is interested in the archaeological field methods, the archaeology of caves, visual anthropology, cultural heritage management, the archaeology of contemporary societies, and Aegean and Balkan prehistory. He is a caver and a Panathinaikos B.C. fan.
